内容記述 | Happiness of college students is an important factor in fulfilling college life and has a direct relationship with health, adjustment, and school work. The effects of lower happiness or a complete lack of happiness can be significant and lead to extended leave of absence or complete withdrawal from college due to the inability to adjust. Students involved in health care courses are not only at risk for reasons already stated but have the additional stressors of off-campus practical training and national examines in order to practice their skills professionally. Due to these increased daily stressors, well-being is an important consideration when discussing these students. Our hope to understand and improve practical care for students, we investigated Subjective Well-Being, personal perception of college life adjustment, and self-efficacy for the health care college student through questionnaires. We thoroughly examined the reliability of the scales in the questionnaires by applying analysis of the Item Response Theories, although validity is less certain. We administered a Big Five questionnaire to a selection of the same students. We found that Subjective Well-Being was positively correlated to the sense of adjustment to college life as well as self-efficacy. Regression analysis revealed that the sense of adjustment to college life and self-efficacy had substantial effect on the Subjective Well-Being independently. About 40% of the variance in the Subjective Well-Being were accounted for by these two factors. As for personality traits, we found that conscientiousness influenced Subjective Well-Being as well. These results suggested that with an improved adjustment self-efficacy will improve Subjective Well-Being. Practical plans and actions were discussed in regards to the healthcare college students which included additional information for professional jobs as well as testing practical approaches that may lead to increased self-efficacy and adjustment to college life. |
